Commissions

You can request commissions by sending a contact form above, messaging me on social media or emailing me at the above email. You can also comment but be aware that I'll advise you to continue our conversation via email. I'll only do kid-friendly artwork, but it ultimately depends on the request. Generally, I'll accept work that will help cultivate the image I am trying to create for myself as an aspiring children's book author and illustrator, which I can use to promote myself by adding it to an Artwork page and my portfolio. I do NOT produce AI art; all my illustrations and prose are done by my own hand. I believe that artificial intelligence poses an existential threat to the visual and literary arts unlike any other in human history; I'll write a post about my farther thoughts on the topic if there is demand for it. I charge my commissions by an hourly wage; which is currently $40 an hour. The final price of a commission will depend on how many hours I believe it will take for me to complete the work. If you think this is overpriced, I will unfortunately not be negotiating anything lower, as I know my worth as someone who obviously intends illustration (and writing) to be my primary source of income, rather than just being a hobby.

Once I accept the commission, the customer must pay half of the final price before I begin and pay the other half once I notify them that the work is finished. I’ll only accept USD, which can be paid through either PayPal or Upwork (if your commission is listed there); I do not accept any other payment methods. If a commission is canceled before I start it, the customer can get a full refund. If for any reason I am unable to start the commission, the customer will also receive a full refund. The customer is not allowed a refund once I start working on the commission. Even so, I reserve the right to cancel and refund the commission at any time for any reason. If the customer gets a refund, I will transfer the money back to them myself. During the process, the customer will get sketches that they must decide which one I should continue with and accept before I continue the work.

If the customer wishes for me to change something in the image that they have previously approved, I will charge a fee to change it. The amount of the extra charge depends on the change the customer wants me to make and is also based on an hourly wage. If the commission involves multiple images, the same rules apply for each image; I will be paid for each image that is completed rather than all of the images at once. Once completed, the customer will receive a PNG of the image(s); I do not provide physical products. I retain all copyrights over the commissioned artwork while the customer retains the intellectual property (IP) of the artwork. I will NOT profit further from the commissioned artwork after it is completed, and as previously stated, I reserve the right to post the commissioned artwork online. The customer may upload the commissioned artwork on any website and social media channels but may NOT make profits from the artwork, alter the artwork without my permission, use the artwork for commercial purposes or claim the artwork as their own. These terms may be updated as I work on commissions. Happy requesting!
